The Himalaya Group has founded its Cold Chain unit in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh in the year 2017. The unit comprises 10 chambers of CA(Controlled Atmosphere) Cold Storage, each having 100 metric ton capacity. The unit has world class infrastructure which plays a vital role in both physical and organizational structure needed for the smooth operation.
With ambitious plans for the future, The company envisions Himachal Pradesh as an emerging destinations for wine and food processing tourism. The project, once operational, will be the first-of-its-kind project in North India. The company has already invested Rs 15 crore in setting up a controlled-atmosphere cold storage. It will pump in another Rs 30 crore. The company has sought approval for 20,000 sq mt of leased land for the project.
The facility will have winery, food processing industry and eco-tourism project where tourists will be able to stay and have first-hand account of the entire manufacturing process. The company is keen to establish winery and plans to process it from locally available fruits such as apple, peach, plum, cherry and apricot. Further, it will also process fruits and vegetables to manufacture jams, jellies, syrups, cider and other products.
